Another Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Speeding Driver In Hit-And-Run
CROWN HEIGHTS – A father of three was struck and killed by a speeding driver while he was crossing the street yesterday.
On Sunday, September 15 at around 5:31 a.m., 30-year-old Kassim Matthews was crossing the street just three minutes away from his home at Albany Avenue and Park Place. At the same time, a driver in a gray sedan was traveling south on Albany Road. According to cops, the driver was coming at high speed, struck Matthews, and also stuck several parked and unoccupied vehicles. In a video, his body can be seen being dragged by the vehicle.
The driver did not remain at the scene and drove away in the vehicle. Matthews was taken to Interfaith Medical Center and pronounced dead. As of now, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Just last week, 10-year-old Enzo Farachio was waiting for the bus at the bus stop, when a driver struck him and crashed into scaffolding, killing the little boy. Two days later, a 72-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver in Greenpoint. In all three of these cases, the drivers have not been arrested or charged.
