Lack of crosswalks by PS889/MS890 (Paul Stremple)

DITMAS PARK – School started last Thursday at PS889 / MS890 with hairy crossings, despite obvious issues, and angry parents, and so far there has been little good news to report.

We noted that the NO STANDINg SCHOOL ZONE signs were put on next day in front of the school.

Two parking spots seem to have been removed over by East 8th Street to make right turns easier for busses coming from Turner or Hinckley, but zero enforcement.

DOT is still studying. This week they added four traffic counter strips across the North bound side on Coney Island Avenue to measure volume and speed, based on the number of strips. Though – none on the South-bound side by the school?

Still no marking of crosswalks, or signs that cars are entering school zone. No vision zero reminders to slow down. Nothing.
