Hill Country Food Park Closes; Hank’s Saloon Slated To Close In June

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN – After only six months, the 10,000-square-foot food venue, Hill Country Food Park, has shuttered at 345 Adams Street, Eater first reported.

The venue was previously home to Hill Country Barbecue Market which closed in December 2017 and was transformed late last year into the new eatery inspired by the Austin food truck scene. Hill Country Food Park debuted in November 2018, featuring six food stalls serving coffee, donuts, and breakfast tacos, fried chicken, burgers, tacos, and pizza.

A Hill Country Hospitality Facebook post from May 3 stated that the space would be “temporarily closing” for “some exciting updates,” and planned to reopen this summer, however a message on the company’s website indicates that those plans have changed.

“While we have enjoyed stretching our culinary wings at Food Park, we have decided to focus on growing our other Hill Country restaurants and will be handing over the reins to a new operator, who will be curating a collection of exciting new food offerings from some very well-known hospitality brands planned for later this year,” the message reads. “Details are being finalized, and more information regarding the new operator as well as our involvement will be coming soon.”

Beloved dive bar and live music venue Hank’s Saloon moved into the second level of Hill Country Food Park after leaving its original location at 46 3rd Avenue in December 2018. Hank’s is slated to close the new location in early June.

“After five amazing months and working our asses off non-stop, Hill Country told us a few days ago that someone else will be taking over their lease asap on the entire building on Adams Street, and that the people taking over don’t really have any interest in continuing to house Hank’s Saloon…” reads a Facebook message posted on May 25 by Hank’s owner Julie Ipcar.

“Looks like we have a couple more weeks to get in some really good music and do some dancing so I hope to see you there,” she continued. “I’m gonna say goodbye for now, but hopefully we will be lucky one more time and find somewhere else so we can continue what we started. NYC you get me down, but I’m not over you yet!”
