EAST FLATBUSH – After being hospitalized following a hit and run crash on Remsen Avenue on Sunday night, 65-year old Dorothy Parker of Canarsie has succumbed to her injuries and died, police confirmed.

The crash that ultimately killed Parker occurred on Sunday, April 9, on Remsen between Church Avenue and Avenue A, said police. According to the Collision Investigation Squad, Parker was crossing Remsen Ave mid-block when she was struck by a silver Honda Accord and thrown under a truck parked nearby. Police said the driver who struck Parker briefly stopped their car before speeding off.

Responding to the ensuing 911 call just before 10:00 pm, police arrived on the scene to find Parker lying on the roadway with severe head trauma. EMS transported her to Brookdale Hospital, where she remained in critical condition until succumbing to her injuries yesterday.

In late March, a 75-year old woman was killed by a motor vehicle in Flatlands, which came on the heels of the deaths of two young children hit by a driver in Park Slope.  Mayor De Blasio has since backed legislation that would keep dangerous drivers off the streets.

Police said that the car involved in the crash that killed Parker is likely a 2003-2005 silver 4-door Honda Accord with damage to the front and passenger side, as well as the passenger side mirror.
