Celebrate Sweet Pi(e) Specials For Pi Day
Mathematicians, cool nerds, and pie lovers unite! March 14 = 3.14 = Pi Day!
You don’t have to know that π = the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter to celebrate. You just need a sweet tooth.
It may be snowy, windy, and frigid, but there are still a few open bakeries that are providing us a way to eat pie in honor of pi:
Four & Twenty Blackbirds — the original Gowanus location 439 Third Avenue between 7th and 8th Streets plus their brand new Prospect Heights shop at 634 Dean Street — is selling 3 slices of pi(e) $14. Read more about their new location here. (Note the Central Library location is closed due to the snow)
Daly Pie, 665 Vanderbilt Avenue, will be also be serving 3 slices of pie for $14 all day today in celebration of Pi Day.
The next two shops aren’t offering any specials, but they are open today in this winter stormy weather, so get cozy with a slice of pie in these warm neighborhood cafes.
Pels Pie Co., 446 Rogers Avenue in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, doesn’t have any pie specials today but they are open with a full menu of delicious sweet pies. Check out our review here.
Dub Pies, 211 Prospect Park West, or Down Under Bakery, specializes in the well-known handmade Australian/New Zealand-style meat pies (with great veggie options). Check out our full savory review here.
What did we miss? Let us know if your bakery has Pi Day specials today at editor@bklyner.com.
Tuesday is sleet-y, but the pi(e) is sweet-y.
