Weekend Crime Blotter: A Stun-Gun Wielding Burglar, A Scooter-Riding Sexual Assault Suspect & More

SUNSET PARK – After a horrifying knife assault that severed a woman’s arm and two of her fingers in Sunset Park last week, police have arrested the alleged perpetrator.

Yong Lu, 35, was arrested yesterday on Sunday, June 24, said police. Lu was charged with attempted murder, two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Lu was found in a food court in Niagra Falls, New York. The video below allegedly shows the moment of arrest:

GREENPOINT – Last Thursday, a woman narrowly escaped a violent attempted rape in her Greenpoint apartment. Over the weekend, police arrested the man responsible.

On Saturday, June 23, police arrested 25-year old Darryl Williams of Crown Heights in connection with the crime. According to the NYPD, Williams was charged with attempted rape, strangulation, assault, burglary, attempted criminal sex act, criminal obstruction of breathing, forcible touching, and sexual abuse.

BED-STUY – Police are looking for the robber who threw a 74-year man in a chokehold as he robbed the senior citizen.

The incident took place around 11:30 pm on Friday, June 22, on Bainbridge Street between Saratoga and Rockaway, said police. The suspect approached the victim from behind, choking him and punching him in the right eye. The attacker then stole the victim’s wallet and keys from his pants pocket before fleeing on foot down Decatur, towards Broadway, said police.

The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene of the crime. Video of the suspect taken in the area, prior to the attack, can be seen below:

GREENPOINT – After two sexual assaults on Greenpoint streets in the last weeks, police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the scooter-riding suspect.

In both incidents, the suspect rode his scooter past the victim, then dismounted and walked up to the victim before groping them

The first incident occurred on Sunday, June 10, around 2:30 am, in the area of Eckford Street and Meserole Avenue. The second occurred on Thursday, June 21, around 1:30 am, near McGuinness Boulevard and Meserole Avenue. Both victims were women, the first 26 years old, the second 27 years old, said police.

WILLIAMSBURG – Police are looking for a South Williamsburg package thief riding what appears to be a CitiBike earlier this month.

The incident occurred at an apartment near Bedford Avenue and Wallabout Street in Williamsburg on Sunday, June 17, around 7:50 am, said police. The suspect gained entry to the building and stole a package containing an exercise bike worth about $225, the victim said. The thief then threw the boxed-up bike on his bike and pedaled off up Lynch Street, said police.

DOWNTOWN – After an incident of public lewdness on a southbound A train earlier this month, police are asking the public to help them track down yet another subway perv.

On Wednesday, June 13, around 4:00 pm, the suspect exposed himself and masturbated on the A train from the High Street to Jay Street stations, said police. A 60-year old man told the suspect to “put it away,” then snapped a picture of the perpetrator’s face before the creep got off at the Jay Street stop.

CARROLL GARDENS – Police are looking for a burglar that broke into a Carroll Gardens and stun-gunned a resident in their own bedroom earlier this month.

The attack took place on Sunday, June 10, just after midnight, in the area of 1st Place and Court Street, said police. The burglar used a key pass to gain entry through the front door of the residence, then proceeded into the bedroom and confronted the 49-year old resident.

There, the attacker used a stun gun, zapping the victim in his chest and face, said police. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries.

EAST FLATBUSH – Finally, police have identified the teenaged victim who was shot in East Flatbush earlier this month, then succumbed to his wounds a week later: Christopher Williams, 18, of East Flatbush.
