Big Sky Works

Live at the Archway: Big Sky Works
When: Thursday, August 17, 6pm
Where: The Manhattan Bridge Archway, DUMBO
What: An interactive circus experience by artist Cara Lee Sparry featuring members of the Heavenly Bodies (Big Sky Works’ Hoop Troop) who will create a planetarium and build a solar system with the audience using hula hoops, spinning carpets, and visuals by B.A. Miale.

Tattoodo Art Fair
When: Thursday, August 17, 7pm to 11pm
Where: Brooklyn Bazaar, 150 Greenpoint Avenue, Greenpoint
What: The first ever Tattoodo Art Fair offers creative items crafted by acclaimed tattoo artists including books, t-shirts, jewelry, fine art prints, paintings, and more.

Brooklyn Opera Works Presents C.W. Gluck’s “Echo & Narcisse”
When: Thursday, August 17 and Saturday, August 19 at 7:30pm
Where: Brooklyn Music School Playhouse, 126 St. Felix Street, Fort Greene
What: Brooklyn Opera Works presents C.W. Gluck’s rarely heard Baroque work, “Echo et Narcisse,” based on the myth of Echo and Narcissus. This interpretation focuses on the internal and external challenges that the lovers have to overcome while exploring themes of vanity, narcissism, lust, and jealousy.
How Much: Tickets $25, $10 students

27th Annual Coney Island Sand Sculpting Contest
When: Saturday, August 19, 12pm to 4pm
Where: Coney Island, Surf Avenue at Stillwell Avenue, Coney Island
What: All are invited to enter this free event and participate in categories including: family group, adult group, and individual adult. There will be cash prizes and, of course, bragging rights for the creators of the top sand sculptures. Judging will be based on creativity and artistic execution.
How Much: Free

Dessert Goals-NYC Dessert Fest
When: Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20, 12pm to 4pm
Where: Dobbin Street, 64 Dobbin Street, Williamsburg
What: This dessert festival returns to NYC for a day of sweets and indulgence. Wear loose-fitting pants so you can sample as many cupcakes, cookies, candies, tarts, shakes, donuts, popsicles, and ice creams as you like!
How Much: Tickets $15 General Admission, $50 includes “How To Make Videos + Insta Stories Like a Boss” workshop

Gold Dig – Black Gold Records #XVII
When: Saturday, August 19, 12pm to 7pm
Where: Folksbier, 101 Luquer Street, Carroll Gardens
What: The Court Street record shop hosts its 17th Gold Dig at neighboring brewery Folksbier. Thousands of vinyl records will be on sale for $1 for one day only! All genres of music will be available from rock, jazz, blues, soul, funk, disco, indie, metal, dance, techno, electronic, and more. Cash only.

Downtown Brooklyn Presents: BK Block Parties
When: Saturday, August 19, 2pm to 4pm
Where: Albee Square (corner of Fulton & Bond Streets), Downtown Brooklyn
What: Join this free, family-friendly, carnival-themed, block party featuring games, music, jugglers, stilt-walkers, hula hoopers, cotton candy, popcorn and other carnival treats.

Jazz In The Garden: Free Community Concert

What: The Flatbush Tenant Coalition is hosting a free, outdoor jazz concert featuring the Patrick Poladian Trio. Bring a blanket or chair!

Puppies ‘n Pints
When: Saturday, August 19, 5pm to 7pm
Where: Sycamore Bar + Flowershop, 1118 Cortelyou Road, Ditmas Park
What: Sycamore is partnering up with Puppies n’ Pints to help find rescue pups loving new homes. The bar will donate $1 from all beer pint sales during the event to Rescue City.

North Slope Summer Strolls
When: Saturday, August 19, 5pm to 9pm
Where: 5th Avenue between Dean Street and Sterling Place, Park Slope
What: The Fifth Avenue Park Slope BID hosts this free, outdoor, multi-block party featuring a bouncy house, climbing wall, TD Bank pop-up park, face painting, fitness classes, vintage cars, ping pong, and music. Artichoke Pizza (near St Mark’s Place) will be holding its Second Annual Pizza Eating Contest at 6:30.

Magic At Coney
When: Sunday, August 20 at 12pm
Where: Coney Island Museum, 1208 Surf Avenue, Coney Island
What: A magical variety show showcasing an array of guest magicians—illusionists, escape artists, mentalists and close-up magicians—from around the world. The Sunday matinee is hosted by award-winning magician Gary Dreifus.

Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue Summer Fundraiser
When: Sunday, August 20, 12pm to 4pm
Where: Royal Palms, 514 Union Street, Gowanus
What: Royal Palms is hosting a 21+ afternoon of shuffleboard, summer cocktails, and fun to support Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue’s Medical Fund.
How Much:  General Admission Tickets $40 (include all-you-can-shuffleboard, plus specialty Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails and Sixpoint Brewery beer; VIP Cabana Tickets $400 (include a private cabana for eight with all-you-can-shuffleboard, specialty Tito’s cocktails, Sixpoint Brewery beer, and food from Comme Ci Comme Ça).

Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue is also hosting a dog adoption event on Saturday from 12pm to 3pm at Petco Unleashed at 81 7th Avenue in Park Slope.
