Late August just about every neighborhood has weekend events that shut down a street or two. Here’s this weekend’s list with associated street closures. Enjoy!

Thursday:

Festa Santa Rosalia – The 42nd annual Italian-American Feast will start on August 17, 18th Avenue, between 68th Street and 75th Street, and will last through August 27. On weekdays, the Feast will bring delicious food, live music, rides, and carnival games to the strip from 6pm to 11pm. Weekends start earlier, with the festival running from 11am to 11pm.

Friday:

  • Taste of 5th Avenue: 5th Avenue between 73rd Street and 84th Street will be closed Friday from 5 pm to 9:45 pm

Saturday:

  • Cortelyou Comes Alive: Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and East 17th Street will be closed Saturday from 5 pm to 11 pm
  • North Slope Summer Strolls: 5th Avenue between Sterling Place and Dean Street will be closed Saturday from 5 pm to 9 pm. FREE outdoor giant block party from Dean to Sterling. Bouncy house, climbing wall, TD Bank pop up park, face painting, Fitness on #theother5th classes, vintage cars, Ping Pong and music. 2nd Annual Pizza Eating Contest with Artichoke Pizza, near St Mark’s Place see below on how to enter.
  • Back to School Kick Off: Kingston Avenue between Eastern Parkway and St. John’s Place will be closed Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm
  • Tama Summer Fest: Tompkins Avenue between Gates Avenue and Halsey Street will be closed Saturday from 12 pm noon to 6 pm

Sunday:

  • Brooklyn Mela – Amanat Ali, Taranam Naz, Mehak Ali, Jimmy Attre and Noman Khalid will perform. Coney Island Avenue will be closed on Sunday in the Little Pakistan area.
  • Brooklyn Mile: Kent Avenue between Clymer Street and North 10th Street will be closed Sunday from 9 am to 11:30 am
  • Amazing Midwood : Avenue M between East 13th Street and East 15th Street will be closed Sunday from 6 pm to 10 pm
