The non-profit promotes the arts and local artists from PLG and the surrounding areas. Now in its third year, the festival boasts 12 performances spaces between Parkside Avenue and Empire Boulevard and Nostrand and Flatbush Avenues. The free event begins June 15 with weeklong jazz performances, multiple activities and a drumming activity for children. Field events end June 22.

“I’m looking forward to a wonderful music event and am happy so many places were able to continue doing this for a neighborhood,” said Rina Kleege, co-president of PLG Arts.

Bar Bayeux and Salem’s Hour are some of the local watering holes participating in the festival. Each venue will host a local artist for a couple of hours during bar hours. On June 21, PLG Arts, the organizers, in collaboration with Make Music New York hosts a keynote event at Brooklyn Commons from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. They’ll hold

This year, there’s a keynote event on Friday, June 21 in Bklyn Commons at 495 Flatbush Ave. from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Neighbors can enjoy Choiroke (the group version of Karaoke, yes, that’s a thing) and a Salsa band.

“We wanted to rev up the excitement and have a large venue that more people can attend,” said Kleege on starting the first annual keynote event.

All PLG-sponsored events are free, some cooperating venues may charge admission. The PLG Arts Music Festival 2019 is funded by the office of City Councilman Mathieu Eugene, Brooklyn Arts Council, and a Citizens Committee of New York City Neighborhood Grant. Special events are presented in collaboration with Parkside Plaza and Greenlight Bookstore.
