The free event begins June 15 with weeklong jazz performances, multiple activities and a drumming activity for children. Field events end June 22.

“I’m looking forward to a wonderful music event and am happy so many places were able to continue doing this for a neighborhood,” said Rina Kleege, co-president of PLG Arts.

Bar Bayeux and Salem’s Hour are some of the local watering holes participating in the festival. Each venue will host a local artist for a couple of hours during bar hours. On June 21, PLG Arts, the organizers, in collaboration with Make Music New York hosts a keynote event at Brooklyn Commons from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. They’ll hold

This year, there’s a keynote event on Friday, June 21 in Bklyn Commons at 495 Flatbush Ave. from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Neighbors can enjoy Choiroke (the group version of Karaoke, yes, that’s a thing) and a Salsa band.

“We wanted to rev up the excitement and have a large venue that more people can attend,” said Kleege on starting the first annual keynote event.

All PLG-sponsored events are free, some cooperating venues may charge admission. The PLG Arts Music Festival 2019 is funded by the office of City Councilman Mathieu Eugene, Brooklyn Arts Council, and a Citizens Committee of New York City Neighborhood Grant.
