Renovations Completed At Atlantic Terminal Target

FORT GREENE – Back in July, BKLYNER visited the Target at Atlantic Terminal (139 Flatbush Avenue) for a sneak peek as the store was undergoing a major renovation.

Schimenti Construction Company has completed all the “customer-friendly” renovations at the 178,000-square-foot location and shoppers are invited to check out the changes designed to “enhance the overall customer experience.”

New features include a dedicated checkout line to allow for more efficient checkout and shorter waits as well as wider aisles in the children’s section to increase accessibility for stroller-pushing parents.

Along with improved merchandising displays, the grocery and entertainment departments both received facelifts while the beauty department has been relocated and given a boutique-like makeover. Aesthetic updates throughout the store include wooden wall panels and slotted wood ceilings, contemporary lighting fixtures, and Target-red design accents to complement the neutral-hued walls.

“We were pleased to work with Target on significant renovations that will greatly improve the shopping experience for customers at the Atlantic Terminal location,” Matthew Schimenti, President of Schimenti Construction Company, said in a release. “Our team is especially proud to have completed such a major redesign without requiring the store to close at any point during the construction process.”

Along with remodeling 1,000 stores by 2020, Target is opening small-format stores in cities as well as in “dense suburban neighborhoods and near college campuses” across the country. The company opened two stores in New York City this year—an East Village location (500 East 14th Street) debuted in July and a Lower East Side store (400 Grand Street) launched in August.
