Reminder: Unlimiteds Now Refillable

Reminder: Unlimiteds Now Refillable

Morning Q by Emma Assin

It’s nearing the end of the month, the time when sensible people (myself not included) know that their 30-day Unlimited Metrocards might be expiring. When you go to get your new 7- or 30-day card, just remember that,  as of February 1, your current card is refillable:

Cards can be refilled at MetroCard Vending Machines (MVMs) and station booths, but only for the initially purchased amount. So, if customers originally purchased a 7-day unlimited ride card they can refill it only with an additional 7 days. If their choice was a 30-day card, then it can only be refilled with another 30-day purchase.

It’s also important to note that you can only purchase one refill at a time. However, no matter when you purchase the refill, the card will only use it once the original time has run out.

So, waste a little less plastic and refill your current cards if you can.
