Two things on your to-do list this weekend — sleep in on Sunday, as daylight saving ends at 2 a.m. on November 3, and change the batteries in your smoke detectors — it is a little thing that can save you and your neighbors in case disaster strikes. And we’d like to add one more — get some LED lights for your helmet, your bicycle, and backpack.

Evenings will get darker earlier with this time change, and being visible saves lives — we have been writing about too many deaths of young and old alike, and have noticed that only about 1 in 7 bicyclists have any lights on their bikes (in our unscientific counts across Boro Park and Sunset Park).
