People’s Pops Are Back!

(People’s Pops is open!)

Updated, December 11, 2016: Peoples Pops is no longer located at 808B Union Street; visit their site for other seasonal locations.

Trees are blooming, flowers are blossoming, and People’s Pops are back on sale in Park Slope.

People’s Pops sprung open at 808b Union Street, just off 7th Ave, last Friday, promising a whole new roster of seasonally rotating fresh flavors and icy treats.

“There’s always new flavors going on. Right now, we’ve got this frozen hot chocolate. It’s vegan, made with coconut milk, coconut cream, and dark chocolate,” said Darren Fiorello of People’s Pops, who added that the entire inventory is vegan.

The frozen hot chocolate pop runs $3.50 and it was very creamy, chocolatey, and not at all too sweet. Other fruit flavors including orange blossom and strawberry rhubarb are available. Varietals will shift with the weather, but Fiorello said to expect over 100 different flavors to be cycled through by year’s end.

The pops are hand prepared in Brooklyn at the Pfizer building.

Shaved ice is also on the menu and is hand shaved to order and well worth your time and your $2.50. The pops are also available on the High Line, at Chelsea Market, and at Smorgasborg and the Brooklyn Flea.
