New Deli Replacing Old One On 6th Avenue?
When the deli at 461 6th Avenue, on the corner of 10th Street, shut down a couple months ago, neighbors had various responses. We heard from some who were sad to see the family behind the shop, who travelled here from the Bronx every day for years, move on; others noted that the space had become more of a place for people to hang out drinking, an aspect they wouldn’t miss. But everyone was disappointed to lose the quick stop for essentials that they’d been relying on for so long.
It looks like you won’t have to wait much longer for a replacement, though, as ongoing work was recently revealed. The “before” photo below, for comparison:
The storefront and the inside have been redone, but it looks like it could still just be a deli — some neighbors we spoke with outside said they’d heard it’ll remain a deli, but under new ownership. Though perhaps it could be something more?
We haven’t been able to track down anyone involved with the new space, so if you know someone or have heard something about what’s coming here, let us know in the comments or at editor@bklyner.com.
