Man’s Body Discovered in Gowanus Bay Wednesday Morning

SUNSET PARK – A second body has been recovered from the waters surrounding Brooklyn this week.

At approximately 10:40am on Wednesday, July 17, the NYPD responded to a 911 call regarding an unconscious man found in the water at Gowanus Bay near 28th Street.

The FDNY recovered the man from the water and transported his body to 28th Street near 2nd Avenue where EMS pronounced him deceased.

The identification of the victim has not yet been released pending family notification.

The New York City Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

On Tuesday, July 16, a woman’s body was recovered from the Erie Basin in Red Hook, a harbor  adjacent to the Gowanus Bay. The NYPD released the identification of that victim the following day. Her name is Jin R. Yang, 30, of Bensonhurst.
