Make A Wish: New Bubble Tea And Smoothie Shop Opens On 5th Avenue

Park Slope – Mr. Wish, “No. 1 Brand in Taiwan,” debuted its first Brooklyn outpost this week, serving up fruit and milk teas with jelly cubes and tapioca pearls, fresh fruit juices, and smoothies in a small but bright and cheery storefront located at 86 5th Avenue between St.Marks Place and Warren Street.

BKLYNER stopped by Thursday afternoon, August 24, on the shop’s official grand opening day and was greeted by a very friendly staff.

A fan of bubble tea, I ordered the Wow! Pearl Milk Tea ($3.50). It had a nice black tea flavor and wasn’t too sweet. The pearls filling the bottom of my cup were soft and chewy.

I also tried the Kumquat & Lemon Fiber Jelly Tea ($4.95). It’s a perfect beverage for a warm summer day—a refreshing interpretation of lemonade with thin slices of lemons floating in the tall cup alongside bits of fruit pulp and jelly.

For the grand opening, Mr. Wish is giving away a free special fruit tea of the day with each drink purchase. Yesterday’s delicious giveaway consisted of lemon, orange, pineapple, passion fruit, and black tea.

For a perfect pick-me-up and fun alternative to coffee, stop by Mr. Wish and enjoy, as their cups say, “a brimming cup with sunshine!”
