A 45-year-old homeless man was found dead in a box trailer in Coney Island over the weekend, according to officials.

The still-unidentified man, called only Luis, was discovered unresponsive at 3:04am in the parked truck in front of Nick’s Auto Glass shop, located at 1523 Neptune Avenue, where he may have worked, say police. Luis was rushed to the Coney Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A friend of Luis, who sometimes sleeps in the trailer, told us he discovered Luis’ lifeless body on a trip to the bathroom.

“He looked like a green color. I tried to move him,”” said Alex Aparco, who also works at Nick’s. “That’s why I called 911 and they came and took him.”

Aparco said he never spoke to Luis about his family.

Though the Medical Examiner has yet to determine a cause of death, Luis had no visible signs of trauma and police speculated that the frigid weather Saturday night may have been a contributing factor. The New York Daily News reports that a space heater was found at the scene.

The Daily News spoke to another one of Luis’ friends, Miguel Vasquez, 33.

“It hurt us a lot. He’s one of us. He lives on the street like us,” he said.
