Friends Open Specialty Coffeeshop In Sheepshead Bay
Coffee culture is brewing in Sheepshead Bay.
Friends from southern Brooklyn are opening a fancy caffein-ery Sunday, June 25, at 1745 Sheepshead Bay Road and Shore Parkway (in the former home of Infinite Wireless).
Orso Coffee shop will feature espresso and coffee-based beverages (cortado! cappuccino! cold brew!), cold pressed juices, teas, and kombucha. There will be food options too, like sweet and savory croissants, employees tell us as a teaser.
The 600-square-foot shop should be a great place to sit, with huge windows, copper pipe details, and a neon mural by local artist, Raisa Nosova.
Southern Brooklynites Rita Brancaleone, Aleksey Nugid, and Simon Levi are opening the shop together — mainly to fill a gap in Sheepshead’s coffee market, mirroring their favorite shops in Manhattan and other Brooklyn neighborhoods, managers told BKLYNER. Plus, it’s a great moment to contribute to the neighborhood’s growing population, they said.
The name Orso, which means ‘bear’ in Italian, was inspired by a trip the friends took together in Italy, where one of them earned that nickname (now we’re all in on it!). As this business is an evolving partnership between friends, the name was a perfect fit.
Stop by Orso this Sunday, June 25 for their opening day, and follow them on Instagram or Facebook.
