SUNSET PARK – After more than $10,000 in fraudulent charges appeared on a victim’s credit card statement, he realized he’d been robbed–weeks before.
Two credit cards were taken from the location, near 57th Street and 5th Avenue, sometime before September 2, police said. It wasn’t until then that the victim discovered they’d been stolen, but purchases had been made before.
Whoever stole the cards had spent $5,120 at the Bloomingdales on 3rd Avenue in Manhattan at the end of August. Later, they switched cards and went on an $8,470 spending spree in Brooklyn, including charges made at the new Apple Store on Flatbush Avenue, said police.
Surveillance photos of the suspects can be seen below:
MARINE PARK – Police have released additional footage of the last suspect from the Marine Park home invasion in which the burglars sexually assaulted one of the victims and slashed the other’s face before stealing their car.
The robbery came just before sunrise, at 5:30 am on Monday, October 8, said police. Three men entered the house near Madison Place and Avenue R, hitting the 72-year-old retired cop that lived there over the head and slashing his face, said police. Demanding the victims’ property, the suspects then assaulted the second victim, a 71-year old woman.
Stealing a handgun from the home, the trio drove off in the victim’s blue Honda sedan, said police. The victims were transported by EMS to Maimonides Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
Shortly after the incident, police arrested and charged two suspects in the case: Lance Jyrkinen, 20, and Shirnel Sobers, 25. Both men were homeless, said police. They’ve each been charged with attempted murder, assault, burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon.
