Free Carousel Rides And Outdoor Performances Thursdays In August
PROSPECT PARK/DUMBO – Looking for things to do on Thursdays throughout August? Prospect Park Alliance is offering free carousel rides and the Under the Archway Series continues in DUMBO with live music and art beneath the Manhattan Bridge.
The Prospect Park Alliance, in partnership with New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, will offer free carousel rides every Thursday in August from 12pm to 6pm!
Normally $2.50 a ride, the park’s historic 1912 Carousel features 53 hand-carved and hand-painted horses, a lion, a giraffe, a deer, and two dragon-pulled chariots. The colorful attraction was designated a landmark by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1992.

The Prospect Park Carousel is located at the Children’s Corner near the Willink entrance at Flatbush Avenue and Empire Boulevard. Free rides will be offered 12pm to 6pm every Thursday in August.
Over in DUMBO, the annual performance and art series Live At The Archway kicked off its fourth season in June and continues through the summer until September 20.
Presented by the DUMBO Business Improvement District, the Live At The Archway series celebrates the neighborhood’s commitment to the arts, hosting a diverse lineup of music, dance, and visual art events. Along with free live musical performances, the event features a small pop-up gallery showcasing the work of a different artist each week who will be on hand to create collaborative art with attendees.
