Planning your holiday meals? If so, consider grabbing a few extra items for a donation to City Harvest this season. Non-parishable foods can be dropped off at NYPD and FDNY stations across the city through January 4, 2013. Here’s a handy list of locations in our neck of the woods:

72nd Precinct
830 4th Avenue (at 29th St)

78th Precinct
65 6th Avenue (at Bergen St)

Engine 220, Ladder 122
530 11th Street (between 7th and 8th Ave)

Engine 239
395 4th Avenue (between 6th and 7th St)

Engine 228
436 39th Street (between 4th and 5th Ave)

Requested donations include: shelf stable milk, boxed juices, water, baby food and formula, pop-top snacks like fruit and pudding, packaged granola bars and trail mix, peanut butter and jelly in plastic, cereal, pop-top proteins like beans, tuna, and salmon, ready-to-eat meals with pop-tops like stews, spaghetti, and soup, instant coffee, hot chocolate and tea.

In the wake of Sandy, our help is needed more than ever to ensure that New Yorkers in all five boroughs have enough to eat. If you’re interested in starting a City Harvest drive of your own, contact Jenny Waxberg at 646-412-0753 or visit the organization’s website for more information.
