Disabled Motorist Injures Six After Losing Control Of Car
FLATBUSH – A disabled motorist lost control of his car Thursday evening, striking one pedestrian in a crosswalk and hitting a pickup truck before crashing into a nail salon at 2095 Nostrand Avenue, police say.
The incident occurred just after 7pm at the intersection of Glenwood Road and Nostrand Avenue. The paraplegic driver told officers responding to the scene that the “hand-control he uses to operate the pedals of his BMW didn’t work properly,” reports the New York Daily News.
Along with the driver, a 49-year-old woman, a 35-year-old man and his six-year-old son were transported to Kings County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three others were treated at the scene, according to ABC7.
The driver has not been charged as of yet, according to a NYPD representative.
Earlier this week a driver ran a red light and into pedestrians, killing two children in Park Slope. That driver, whose vehicle has received several traffic violations in the past two years, told police she suffered a seizure at the time of the incident. While her license was suspended following Monday’s deadly collision, she has not yet been charged.
