Chains Found at Beverely Road OWS Protest Linked to 2004 Murder
Back in March, several subway stations around the city had their emergency exit gates chained open, with official-looking signs saying that rides were free, all part of an Occupy Wall Street protest. Now investigators have linked a chain found at the Beverley Road Q station to that of Julliard drama student Sarah Fox, who was found murdered Inwood Park in 2004.
According to NBC New York, a pink CD player found by investigators in the woods near Fox’s body had DNA evidence that matches DNA evidence found on the chain used to secure open the gates at our local station.
When the subway stunt happened, the New York Post reported that a clerk and a cleaner at the Beverley station were “questioned by MTA brass for two hours.”
No arrests were made at the time, and police are now continuing the investigation to identify the common source of the DNA.
The photo above is of a sign at a different station by @natashalennard, but I believe I saw a photo someone had at the time of the Beverley Road station–anyone remember seeing the station that day?
UPDATE: As a commenter noted, there are some questions over whether the DNA might actually be a laboratory error, and might in fact be that of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s supervisor.
