BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! 2019 Lineup Revealed

PROSPECT PARK – BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! returns for its 41st year offering a diverse lineup of events at the Prospect Park Bandshell from June 4th though August 10th.

Each year, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! offers a mix of music, film, dance, and multimedia works by artists from around the world, as well as food and other goods created by local vendors. The 2019 season kicks off with a free concert with Patti LaBelle on Tuesday, June 4th.

Other highlights this year include free performances by: Tortoise and Emily Wells with Metropolis Ensemble (June 22); Chucho Valdés – Jazz Batá and Dafnis Prieto Si o Si Quartet (June 26); Protoje, Jah9, Yoga on Dub, DJ Top Notch & MICRO DON (June 27); Celso Piña, Dos Santos, Riobamba (June 28); Oddisee, 47SOUL, Narcy (July 6); Salif Keita and Courtnee Roze (July 13); a closing night show with Bomba Estéreo and Delsonido (August 10); and more.

American Express will present the “Women In Music Series” featuring Ibeyi, Sudan Archives, Orion Sun (June 8); Liz Phair, Ted Leo And The Pharmacists, Caroline Rose (June 29); and I’m With Her and Darlingside (July 18).

Of the 29 performances on this year’s schedule, 25 are free (with a $5 suggested donation at the gate). BRIC will present 21 music concerts, two films projected onto one of NYC’s largest (50’ x 21’) outdoor screens, and two dance performances.

This year’s benefit shows—whose ticket sales go toward supporting the Festival’s free events—include performances by The National and Courtney Barnett (June 12 & 13); Father John Misty, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Jade Bird (June 19); and Mac DeMarco (August 6).

Film and dance events include a screening of the 1925 masterpiece Varieté with live accompaniment by Alloy Orchestra and a performance by modern dance group Lava (July 20); a performance by Compagnie Hervé KOUBI (July 27); and a performance by Ailey II, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s second company (August 8). Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will be screened at the Project Room at BRIC House as part of Lou Reed Tai Chi Day (August 3).

This year’s food and beverage offerings will include: Big Mozz, Sweet Chick, Oyster Party, Kotti Berliner, Gordo’s Cantina, Rooster Boy, and more.
