Black Artstory Month Reception Tonight
Black Artstory Month is in full swing on Myrtle Avenue, and to celebrate the artistic and cultural contributions, the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership will hold a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Gnarly Vines.
The return of the month-long Black History Month celebration, dubbed “Native Sons and Daughters: Locals, (Im)migrants, Expats and Prodigals” after Richard Wright’s book “Native Son” – written in Fort Greene – began Feb. 1 with an art exhibition from painter Teri Sanders titled “Art at Work” at Pillow Cafe, located at 505 Myrtle Avenue.
At the free reception tonight, artist collective TryHarderNYC presents “Climate Change,” an art exhibition featuring paintings by Steven Mosley and Jose Baez made up of collaged photography taken on Myrtle Avenue using disposable cameras. Following the exhibition, located at 350 Myrtle, Lulu & Po will offer a prix-fixe dinner for just $40.
