Ansonia Chemist: Another 7th Avenue Institution Shutters

PARK SLOPE – After 34 years, Ansonia Chemist closed its doors at 358 7th Avenue for the last time Tuesday night.

Many Park Slope neighbors stopped by the beloved pharmacy to say goodbye, including Patrick Stewart, who tweeted about the business closing.

BKLYNER stopped by the store Wednesday morning to find out more about its sudden closure. Ansonia Chemist’s two owners, Dennis Desimone and John Ferrandino, were not available to speak with us.

BKLYNER will continue to try to reach out to them for more information.

Customers who need to refill prescriptions can do so at the CVS Pharmacy located at 341 9th Street between 5th & 6th Avenues.

The news of Ansonia Chemist’s closing follows many recent changes on 7th Avenue, including the April shuttering of natural grocery store, Back to the Land, after more than forty years.
