Considering fall arts classes? Brooklyn Arts Exchange and Spoke the Hub are both holding open houses this weekend, giving parents and kids a chance to check out their offerings/faculties/general vibes before committing. Because there is nothing worse than ending up in BAX’s Tumbling I when you’re really a Spoke the Hub Creative Ballet kind of girl (and vice versa).
The BAX open house runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday. From their website:
Join the families of the BAX community. Meet the BAX faculty and staff and register for the Fall Trimester. Enjoy refreshments, tour the facilities, and check out our fun, colorful Playspace for ages 1-4.
It’s also a chance to try out some free sample BAX classes. While they’ve got youth programing for kids up to age 18 (see their fall course catalog), Saturday’s samples are aimed at the under-13 set. Take a look at the full roster of sample courses here.
Meanwhile over at Spoke the Hub, they’ll be at it all weekend. On both Saturday and Sunday, from 9:30am to 4:30pm, the STH Re:Creation Center will hold 30-minute sample classes for both kids and adults. Or as they put it:
…you and your family can dance, sing, sweat and stretch with us during our weekend of Open House events where we will offer FREE classes for the whole family with everything from Sing, Dance and Make Believe to Chair Yoga. There is something for everyBODY at our action-packed Open House Weekend!
Check out their full sample schedule here, keeping in mind that class sizes will be limited (first come, first served). Plan on arriving at least 10 minutes early to check in.
Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) is at 421 Fifth Ave (at 8th Street), 718-832-0018. Spoke the Hub is at 748 Union Street (between 5th and 6th Aves), 718-408-3234.
