Do tacos jaywalk? We’ll soon find out.

If you’re a fan of Taco Santo (669 Union Street, between 4th and 5th Avenues), you’re going to need to cross Union Street. That’s because owner Jacques Gauthier will be selling the taqueria and closing up shop there on Sunday, September 27, according to an email sent Monday morning, September 21.

We don’t know who will be moving into the the Taco Santo space just yet, but Gauthier assures us that many of the taqueria offerings will be available across the street at his Palo Santo (652 Union Street, between 4th and 5th Avenues).

Gauthier writes:

Palo Santo will continue to exist (as we just celebrated our ninth anniversary!) and we will be expanding our taco offerings. So, after this week you can still get your fresh tortilla fix! If you have a favorite Taco Santo taco and you would like to see it make an appearance on the Palo Santo menu please respond to this email and let us know!

Taco Santo opened February 2014 and replaced a barbecue joint, so it will be interesting to see what new offerings we’ll eat next in the space, which is just off 4th Avenue.

We recently reviewed the brunch menu at Palo Santo, so the expansion of their menu is very promising.
