YCteen Accepting Submissions for December Writing Competition
Know a talented teen writer between the ages of 14 and 19? YCteen, a NYC magazine that publishes non-fiction stories of teen experiences, is holding their December writing contest.
Primarily developed to help marginalized teens cultivate crucial reading and writing skills, the magazine, which now reaches over 80,000 in their print issues alone, gives these often forgotten kids a safe and supportive environment to establish their voice.
This theme of this month’s contest is books.
Describe one of your favorite books. What is it about, and why do you like it so much? What kind of wisdom or discovery about yourself and/or the world did you gain from this book?
In addition to having their stories published online and in the magazine’s print version, the top three winners will receive cash prizes.
Submissions are due no later than December 21 via the web, mail or fax. Official rules and mailing addresses can be found on the YCteen website.
