Workers’ And Immigrants’ Rights Rally At Kensington Plaza On Sunday
With May Day coming up, Occupy Kensington is organizing a rally to celebrate international workers in advance of May 1. This Sunday, April 28 at 3pm, there will be a Workers’ and Immigrants’ Rights Rally at Kensington Plaza (on the corner of Beverley and Church). From Occupy Kensington:
In Kensington our community has stood up in support of the Golden Farm workers who asked us to boycott the store till the owner signs a fair contract. Right now the boycott has been suspended for contract negotiations.
Occupy Kensington will continue to organize whatever support the Golden Farm workers need to get fair treatment and we’ll do the same for any other workers in our neighborhood who ask for our help. We support workers throughout New York, like those who walked out of McDonalds, Burger King, KFC etc as part of the Fastfoodforward campaign, who are calling for “$15 an hour and a union”. We stand in solidarity with workers across the world like those in Bangladesh fighting to force factories to introduce basic safety measures that would prevent fires like the one last fall that killed 112 workers making clothes for Walmart in a locked factory with barred windows.
