1024 Fulton Street isn’t the only area site getting a new life on the strip–on a walk through the neighborhood yesterday, we counted six other sites on Classon Avenue and Fulton just west of Classon where either new buildings are already underway, or work has begun to demolish old buildings and facilitate new developments. Below are renderings for those buildings, plus some updates on how construction is going.

Renderings are up for 976-978 Futon Street (between Grand Avenue and Saint James Place), which will feature  a modern factory look, retail on the ground floor, and seven stories total (will that other half of the top floor be a roof for tenants?). Construction is scheduled to wrap up in the fall of 2015.

Renderings are also posted and workers are laying rebar at 535 Classon Avenue (between Fulton Street and Putnam Avenue), a forthcoming five story building which Buzz Buzz Home says will contain 38 residential units over 26,000 sq ft. Looks like the structure will be super modern, with a slate grey exterior and glass balconies for tenants. Construction is scheduled to wrap up in summer 2015.

Permits were approved in March for 1008 Fulton Street, slated for a seven story building on a 1989 sq ft site, where renderings have been posted as well. According to a posted noise mitigation plan, superstructure work should begin this month. The building is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016.

At 516 Classon Avenue, a seven story building scheduled to be completed this summer, a partial stop work order has been issued in response to alleged unsafe worker conditions. An additional permit was also approved early this month for pipe scaffolding.

Expected to be completed in the fall of 2015 is 1035 Fulton Street–a seven story, 35-unit building on the corner of Downing Street by Brookland Capital, who is also currently working on 266 Greene Avenue.

1035 Fulton was issued a stop work order early last month for a lack of underpinning work (or, as the sign on site appropriately reads, “No underping work”) that appears to have been lifted. See more renderings of the building via Brownstoner.

A few doors down at 1045-1047 Fulton–which Brownstoner says will be a six story, 28 unit Karl Fischer building–a partial stop work order filed May 1 has been resolved after proper permits were filed for a sidewalk shed and scaffolding, according to the DOB. Scaffolding is now up at the site.

If you live near on Fulton or Classon–or on any of the adjacent streets–how are the new developments treating you? Are you excited for more retail space and fancy buildings, tired of the noise, or…?
