[Update] Police Seek Help Identifying Woman’s Body Found By Pier 44 In Red Hook

[Updated: Wednesday, June 28, 2017, 3:25pm] Police have released a photo (above) of the actual tattoo located on the right hip of the unidentified female victim.

The NYPD has released an image of a tattoo found on the woman’s body they discovered in the waters near Pier 44 in Red Hook on Tuesday, June 27.

The body was found floating in the water in the vicinity between Gowanus Bay and Buttermilk Channel at approximately 11:20am Tuesday morning, police say.

The NYPD Harbor Unit recovered the unidentified woman and transported her to Pier 44 in Red Hook, the police report. EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead.

The NYC Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
