Woman Fatally Stabbed On Homecrest Avenue
UPDATE (12:40 p.m.): A police source has confirmed that the woman died from her injuries. The source would not indicate whether they had a suspect, saying only that the investigation is ongoing.
Original post (apologies for the out-of-sequence updates):
We found the following tip (and above photo) from reader Kismet in our inbox this morning:
50-60 year old woman stabbed around 12:50 AM on Homecrest between U and V. She had just parked her white Mercedes a few feet away from her building. A van was parked two spots behind her with a male suspect inside. He waited for her to shut her car off and approached the vehicle and stabbed her. The man fled the scene. She stumbled out of the car and yelled for help before collapsing. There was a huge trail of blood. 911 was called immediately because many residents heard her.
CPR was performed immediately, once on the ground and once on the stretcher. I’m not sure if she made it because she lost a lot of blood.
People are being questioned by the police now.
We are in the process of verifying the facts Kismet sent us, and finding out additional information. If you know anything, please e-mail tips [at] sheepsheadbites [dot] com.
UPDATE (12:45 p.m.): Kismet described the scene as emergency responders “desperately” tried to revive the victim:
I live 3 car lengths from where it happened. I came out when they were doing CPR on her on the floor. People said she died this morning but I don’t believe it. You could see they were desperately trying to save her with the CPR, once on the floor and once on the stretcher. The stretcher was covered in blood the moment they put her on it. No way could someone have lived through that.
UPDATE (11:08 a.m.): We have confirmed that a stabbing did occur. More information is forthcoming.
UPDATE (11:59 a.m.): We’re hearing the victim did not survive. Still awaiting NYPD confirmation. In the meantime, here are two more photos from Kismet:
