Police are after a woman they say swiped a straphanger’s wallet at a local subway station, then used the stolen credit card all around town.

According to police, the 20-year-old victim headed for the R train at the Atlantic Avenue station on Saturday, August 1 at 2:30pm, popping her MetroCard into her wallet and her wallet into her bag. Once she got to the southbound platform, however, she noticed her wallet was gone.

Cops say the victim’s credit card was then used at multiple locations, and they shared the image above of the suspect, captured on a surveillance camera at a Walgreens located at 1409 Avenue J in Midwood, one of the places the suspect reportedly used the stolen card.

The suspect is described as a black woman with short black hair, last seen wearing a white T-shirt and light blue jeans.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577. Police say all calls are confidential.
