Beloved Mom Killed After SUV Slams Pole On Bath Avenue
A 56-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after slamming her car into a street lamp on Bath Avenue and 24th Avenue.
Responding to reports of a collision at the intersection at 4:43pm, officers found Mitzi Imbo, a beloved mother and mother-in-law, with trauma to the chest. Imbo was transported to Coney Island Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
An investigation revealed that Imbo was driving a grey, 2008 Toyota Rav4 southbound on 24th Avenue. The New York Daily News reports that she may have suffered a seizure or heart attack when she sped up and struck the light pole at Bath Avenue.
“She was a mother to all of us,” family friend Vincenzo Scalici, 29, told the outlet. “She watched Ranger games with us.”
Our thoughts are with Mitzi’s family and friends during this difficult time.
