RED HOOK – A car in flames on the BQE. A dead woman in the passenger seat and no driver to be found—there are more questions than answers in last night’s accident in Red Hook.

At 4:00 am, police of the 67th precinct responded to a call about a vehicle on fire in the center lane of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Upon arrival, they found a burning sedan, a 2007 Infiniti G35, spun around and facing east on the westbound side.

Once the FDNY extinguished the flames, police discovered the body of an adult woman in the passenger seat. EMS on the scene pronounced the woman dead, said police.

No driver was found at the scene, police said. An investigation is ongoing into both the nature of the accident and the woman’s cause of death.
