Woman Foils Rape Attempt In Prospect Park
A young woman jogging in Prospect Park early this morning fought off a man who threatened to rape her, police said.
The 23-year-old woman, who was running inside Prospect Park near Garfield Place around 5:15am, was approached from behind by an unknown attacker and thrown to the ground. The assailant, who was armed with a knife, threatened to rape the woman but he eventually fled after struggling with her, according to cops.
The victim, who cut her finger during the attack, was taken to New York Methodist Hospital by EMS, said the NYPD.
The attempted rapist is described by police as a black male, six feet tall, with light facial hair, and wearing a black sweatsuit.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing, say police.
