A 21-year-old woman escaped from an attempted rape early Sunday morning near the intersection of 7th Avenue and 2nd Street, the Daily News reports.

The woman, who was returning from a Manhattan bar, had just gotten off the F train at 7th Avenue and 9th Street exit at approximately 3:30am Sunday, May 22 when she began walking north on 7th Avenue.

When the victim made a left onto 2nd Street, a man began to pursue her. The suspect caught up to her, “grabbed her from behind, and groped her over her clothes,” wrote the Daily News.

The man then held her to the ground and attempted to rip off her clothes, however the victim fought off the suspect.

The suspect fled west on 2nd Street, and police say he drove off in an Acura. A license plate and color of the car is not yet available.

The woman then went to her apartment, and sources say an unidentified individual called 911.

Police describe the suspect as male, light-skinned, of Indian or Middle Eastern descent, approximately 5’10′” with a thin build, short hair, and short facial hair.
