Pretty soon, Coney Island’s Parachute Jump will be lit up with 8,000 LED lights that will scorch the sky so brightly that astronauts peering from the International Space Station will be able to see it. According to a report by the New York Daily News, the iconic Parachute Jump attraction is being outfitted with $2 million worth of dazzling new lights that will dance and morph along with music.

The new lights will be turned on by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz when the first day of summer roles around on Friday, June 21.

“It brings the bling back to Coney Island,” Markowitz told the New York Daily News.

Compared to the old display, which featured 450 colors, the new shinier display features 8,000 colors all programmable by computers to match a pulsating soundtrack. The lights are being installed by Zamperla USA and paid for by your tax dollars.

We were wondering what our readers think of the images of the new light display that is set to either delightfully color the sky, or sear your eyeballs blind come this summer. Take a look below and let us know.
