The Wing: New Co-Working Space For Women Opens In DUMBO

DUMBO – The all-women’s network of co-working and community spaces, The Wing, debuted its third NYC location at 1 Main Street in DUMBO on Monday.

With locations in the Flatiron and Soho, The Wing DUMBO is the company’s first outpost in Brooklyn. Situated on the corner of Plymouth Street in a space owned by Two Trees that formerly housed Bubby’s Restaurant, the new multi-level 9,000-square-foot venue was designed by interior designer Chiara de Rege and architect Alda Ly.

“Expanding to Brooklyn was a no-brainer for The Wing,” said co-Founder & CEO, Audrey Gelman, in a release announcing the opening. “A third of The Wing’s current members call Brooklyn home, and it is consistently one of the most requested locations. We are excited to welcome new women into The Wing’s community and continue the company’s growth.”

The Wing DUMBO is outfitted with amenities created by women and include a café stocked with items by female-owned food vendors; a lending library filled with more than 2,000 female-penned titles; and an art gallery exhibiting work by prominent female artists including Pamela Hanson, Jenny Holzer, Alex Prager, and more.

The space also provides members with beauty and wellness rooms, meeting rooms, a podcast room, phone booths, showers, lockers, and a vintage photo-booth. The ground floor houses the Picture Room Outpost, a retail shop where affordable artworks by female artists are available to purchase.

Membership at The Wing ranges from $215/monthly or $2,350/annually for a single location, and $250/monthly or $2,700/annually for access to all their locations. According to Fast Co. Design, 13,000 women have applied for one of the 3,000 available spots at The Wing since the company launched in 2016.
