Where To Get Christmas Trees Near Kensington
Now that we’ve successfully stuffed ourselves with turkey and pie, it’s time to start thinking about the rest of the holidays! Here’s where you can nab a Christmas tree around the area.
- Shannon Florist & Nursery (3380 Fort Hamilton Parkway between Bills Place and Chester Avenue) has fresh cut trees from Canada, including Noble fir and Fraser firs, as well as hand-made wreaths. Shannon Florist & Nursery is open 8am-5pm Monday through Saturday and 8am-2pm on Sundays.
- J&L Landscaping (702 Caton Avenue between E 7th and E 8th Streets) has fresh cut trees from Canada, poinsettia plants, wreaths of all sizes, tree stands, and more, and is open 7:30am-6:30pm seven days a week.
- Immaculate Heart of Mary (2805 Fort Hamilton Parkway between E 4th and E 5th Streets) will have wreath and poinsettia sales (but no trees) with Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 187 on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7. The sales will be held before Saturday’s 5pm mass and Sunday’s 8:45am and 11:45am masses.
- Brooklyn ARTery (1021 Cortelyou Road between Coney Island Avenue and Stratford Road) has organic trees from Houle’s Tree Farm, which will be available from 9am-9pm seven days a week. Farmers Patrick and Billy of Houle’s will also be offering delivery services.
- The Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket (Prospect Park West and Flatbush Avenue) will have trees and wreaths from Trumansburg Tree Farms until December 20, and is open Saturdays from 8am-4pm.
- Foley Firs (Corner of 8th Street and 8th Avenue) offer Fraser firs and small balsam firs, as well as wreaths, garlands, tree stands, and more. Owner Tom Foley will donate $10 to one of a number of neighborhood schools – all you have to do is let him know which school you’d like to support with your purchase. Participating schools in our area include: PS 154, PS 230, and the Brooklyn Prospect Charter School. For a complete list of the schools, go here, and to purchase a tree, go here. Foley Firs is open Mondays through Thursdays from 1-9pm, Fridays from 11am-11pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-11pm.
