Where the Kids Can Get Musical in Kensington
If you’ve got a kid who loves to sing and dance, and the prospect of a long, cold winter stuck indoors doesn’t sound appealing, there are a lot of music classes starting up nearby that will get you guys out of the house, and into the groove.
Music Together at Jaya Yoga East
Where: 2902 Ft Hamilton Pkwy at E 4th St
When: Two sessions start January 10, on Thursdays at 11:15am and 12:15pm
What: For kids from birth to age four and their caregivers, the classes focus on family-style learning as kids participate at their own levels and explore musical instruments.
Cost: Ten-week session (includes 2 CDs, a songbook, and activity suggestions for parents) is $280 for a new family, first child; $270 for a returning family during pre-registration; $140 for each sibling; siblings under 8 months are free. They can arrange for a free trial class as well.

Flying Teapot Mixed Ages
Where: Near Greenwood Playground
When: A variety of sessions begin this week
What: Four-week sessions are available for different age groups, encouraging movement while making musical connections.
Cost: Sessions are $70 (Flying Teapot CD included); $60 if you have the CD; $5 for each sibling per class. Drop-ins are welcome at $20 per class.
Additional Info: Musical playgroup classes are also available.

Toddler Time/Sing-Along with Ms. Cindy
Where: Windsor Terrace Library, 160 E 5th St at Ft Hamilton Pkwy
When: Back after a winter break starting January 8, on Tuesdays at 10:30am
What: Parents and their children ages 18 to 36 months are welcome to hear stories, play games, and sing songs at the popular sing-along.
Cost: Free
Additional Info: On break February 21 and 28, April 10 and 17, June 26, and July 3. Summer Story Play program begins July 10.

Music With Miss Katie
Where: Terrace Dance Studio, 273 Prospect Park West at 17th St
When: Two sessions start on January 11, on Fridays at 9:30am and 10:30am
What: A little outside of the area, but Miss Katie is another popular option who has music and movement classes where children ages 8 months to 4 years, with their caregivers, learn to make music on their own, and in unison with other children.
Cost: Eight-week session is $180 for new students; $170 for returning students; $80 for each sibling over 8 months; siblings under 8 months are free.
