Wheated Seeks Staff For Opening Next Month
Wheated owner David Sheridan contacted us to ask about hiring staff for the long-awaited brick oven pizza spot, and their opening is finally in sight!
We are looking for bartenders, pizza makers, servers, prep, and warewash/backbar staff. Basically everything. Experience is plus. Living in the area is a plus. We will train the right people. We will be open for evenings only in the beginning.
We will be open by the 1st of July with some soft opening days occurring before then.
Job applicants can send their resume or work history and a brief explanation of why they would like to work at Wheated to jobs@wheatedbrooklyn.com.
We spoke to David last month about the community support Wheated received after losing $30,000 worth of equipment in Hurricane Sandy. He said:
A few weeks ago, the tangible results of support from the community arrived at our space in the form of the replacement pizza ovens. When Sandy struck and flooded our storage space, my wife and I dealt with uncertainty about the future of Wheated.
Beyond the financial aspect, the fundraising allowed us to experience an outpouring of good wishes from the community. This has been equally critical in helping my wife and I push forward to make our dream a reality.
Today, we have overcome the Sandy hurdle, and can look forward to meeting the community supporters, shaking their hands and extending our thanks personally. Their backing has meant the world to us.
We’re looking forward to the opening of Wheated (905 Church Ave. between E 10th St. and Coney Island Ave.), too! It’s been a long time coming, and we want to continue supporting the Sheridans after all their work and setbacks–not to mention try some fantastic new pizza.
