What’s Your Favorite Place In Prospect Park?
After New Yorkers named Prospect Park their favorite green space in a New York Landmarks Conservancy survey, the Prospect Park Alliance wants to know: What’s your favorite spot in the urban oasis?
Is it the boathouse? Lefferts Historic House? The carousel? The LeFrak Center at Lakeside? Maybe you have a favorite spot that few people know about?
You can let the Prospect Park Alliance know about your favorite locale here, and they’ll post the results next week. And, whatever you vote for, let us know!
As for the New York Landmarks Conservancy survey, Prospect Park topped Central Park, Fort Tryon Park, Van Cortlandt Park, Pelham Bay Park, Clove Lakes Park, Bryant Park, Washington Square Park, Riverside Park, and Astoria Park. Go Brooklyn!
From the conservancy’s announcement about the winner:
Prospect Park is a 585-acre urban oasis located in the heart of Brooklyn, New York’s most populous borough. The masterpiece of famed landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, Prospect Park features the 90-acre Long Meadow, the 60-acre Lake and Brooklyn’s only forest. The nation’s first urban Audubon Center, the Prospect Park Zoo, and the Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival are just a few of the cultural attractions that make their home in Prospect Park.
