What’s Open on the 4th of July?

Independence Day is a federal holiday, which means government offices, courts, and the DMV are closed. There is no mail delivery and all library branches are closed.

Alternate side parking is suspended, and you don’t have to pay the parking meter.

There is no garbage or recycling collection. If tomorrow is your garbage day, put your garbage out after 5pm tomorrow evening. If tomorrow is your recycling day, wait until next week to put your recycling out.

Restaurants and Bars
Ox Cart: Closed
Purple Yam: Closed for a private party during lunch. Reopens at 5:30pm for the regular menu.
Sycamore: Opens at 2pm with drink specials all day.
Open Regular Hours: 773 Lounge, Cafe Madeline, The Castello Plan, The Farm on Adderley, Mimi’s Hummus, Picket Fence, Qathra

Wine & Liquor
TB Ackerson: Open 12-9pm
Newkirk Station: Open 9am-4pm

Out and About
Swimming Pools: Open from 11am-3pm and 4pm-7pm
Beaches: Lifeguards on duty 10am-6pm
Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest: Women at 11:30am, men at noon
Governor’s Island: closed
