What’s Open And Closed In Fort Greene-Clinton Hill This Week

Friday, December 25 is Christmas; if you plan to celebrate outside of Fort Greene-Clinton Hill, enjoy safe travels and good weather.

If you’re sticking around the neighborhood, note that Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, is not an official city holiday, so all city government offices, including courts, are open.

Here’s some information you might need to know for the holidays this week:

Government Offices, Parking, and Sanitation

All government offices are closed on Christmas Day, including courts.

There is no mail delivery.

All NYC public schools are closed Thursday, December 24 through Friday, January 1, 2016, for Winter Recess. Students return to school on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Alternate side parking regulations are suspended and parking meters do not have to be paid on Christmas Day. Additionally, no stopping, no standing, and no parking regulations are suspended, except where those regulations are in effect at any time or seven days a week.

There is no sanitation collection on Christmas Day. If Friday is your regular garbage or organics day, place your items out after 4pm on Friday, December 25. If Thursday is your regular recycling day, wait until after 4pm on January 2 to put out your recycling.

Subways and Buses

The New York City Subway will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Thursday. New York City subways and buses will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Libraries

Clinton Hill, Walt Whitman, and other select branches of the Brooklyn Public Library system will be open on Thursday from 9am-1pm. However, all branches of the New York library systems are closed on Friday for Christmas.

Medical

• Tribeca Pediatrics (771 Fulton Street, between South Oxford and South Portland) will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. But they are open 8am-3pm on Christmas Eve, and 9am-4pm on New Year’s Eve. (718) 618-9599
• Myrtle Pharmacy (446A Myrtle Avenue, at Waverly Avenue) will be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 9:30am-5pm. They are closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. (718) 237-4444
• Fine Care Pharmacy (981 Fulton Street, at St. James Place) will be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve from 8:30-5pm.

Grocery

• Key Food (490 Myrtle Avenue) will be open regular hours on Christmas Eve, from 7am-11pm. Christmas Day will see them close a bit earlier, time TBD. (718) 857-5579

• Fresh Fanatic (88 Washington Avenue, at Park Avenue) will be open Christmas Eve from 8am-11pm.
• Greene Grape Provisions (767 Fulton Street) will be open Christmas Eve from 8am-5pm.

Restaurants and Shops

• Greene Grape Annex (753 Fulton Street) is open Christmas Eve from 7am- 5pm
• Greene Grape Scoops & Holiday Pop-Up Shop is open Christmas Eve from 2pm-7pm
• Greene Grape Wine & Spirits is open Christmas Eve from 10am-7pm
• Mekelburg’s (293 Greene Avenue) is open until 8pm on Christmas Eve.
• Red Lantern Bicycles and Cafe (345 Myrtle Avenue) has a pop-up shop open through Christmas Eve! Also open Christmas Day — the bike shop from around 10/11am to around 4pm; the cafe continues with a Happy Hour from 4-7pm.
