The Straphangers Campaign just released its Top Ten Worst and Best Events for City Subways and Buses in 2013, including another fare hike, lengthy and expensive post-Sandy repairs, and nasty platforms (all worst), as well as the price slash to the planned 2015 hike, implementation of Select Bus Service, and the MTA Subway Time app (best, and we don’t have it yet).

We’d say our best MTA moment of 2013 was when those adorable kittens made a mess of service at the Church Avenue station (but of course, this is only because we weren’t waiting for the train that day), and our worst was not having local service on the Manhattan-bound Q for months, only to return to scenes like the one above, snapped by neighbor Tony Gill.

From unexplained delays and rats on the tracks to the conductor holding the doors for you or a fellow passenger offering you a shoulder, what were the MTA-related moments this year that made you want to tear your hair out, and the ones that made you happy to own a MetroCard?
