A building that has been many years in progress is hosting its first open houses this weekend, and we’re curious to know what neighbors think of the new four-story space.

The eight-unit condo building at 289 13th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, was originally issued permits in 2006, but construction stalled after a stop-work order was put in place the following year, and it wasn’t until 2013 that architect Ben Ellis of the Ellis + Donnelly Studio filed new applications for the site.

Now four of the units are on the market, and, as Curbed notes, the outside is pretty classic looking, though inside it’s got “some of the ugliest kitchens in the world.”

All the units listed are 2-bedroom, 1-bath apartments, and are priced between $949,000 and as much as $1,599,000 for the lower-level duplex which has exclusive backyard access.

You can see them for yourself in person this weekend during an open house on Sunday, April 5 from 2:30-4pm. But in the meantime, what do you think of this new local condo? Glad to see construction winding down? Had you hoped for a different-looking neighbor? Would you buy one of these units?
