What Do You Do When Someone Steals Your Paper?

Worrying about delivered packages being stolen from your stoop is understandable; worrying about your newspaper being lifted seems largely unnecessary. But it seems there’s a well-read thief hitting a stoop on Berkeley Place near 7th Avenue, as this sign photographed by neighbor John Classon shows. It reads:

Dear New York Times Thief,

Please stop taking our New York Times, we really like reading it.

There are plenty more for you around the corner, all you have to do is buy one for $2.50.

It’s true, a market is literally steps away on the corner or 7th Ave and Berkeley, and they’ve got the Times for sale there, but do you think a thief would be swayed by that info?
