Westbound Prospect Expressway Closed Due to Car Accident

From the Office of Emergency Management:

Notification issued 9/12/12 at 11:30 AM. Due to a vehicle accident, the westbound Prospect Expressway approaching the Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn is temporarily closed. Expect delays and consider alternate routes.

Update at noon:

Following an earlier accident, the westbound Prospect Expressway approaching the Gowanus Expressway in Brooklyn has been reopened. Expect residual delays.

The Gowanus is a fragile animal but it looks like things will be improving through the afternoon.
